Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science used to understand behavior. Its tactics are derived from the principles of behavior and are systematically applied to improve socially significant behavior (Cooper, Heron and Heward, 2007).
Through experimentation, analysis and identifying variables responsible for its improvement, ABA employs a wide variety of teaching methods to teach new skills and reduce behaviours that challenge.
The effectiveness of ABA in supporting children with autism and other developmental disabilities is well-documented, leading to meaningful improvements in communication, social interactions, and independence. ABA achieves this through ongoing data collection and analysis, ensuring interventions are evidence-based and tailored to the individual’s needs.
